
BELFAST – The Belfast Backyard Membership’s Open Backyard Days proceed Friday, Aug. 12, on the historic 1862 house of Stephanie and Ted Guerry in Belfast.
The Guerrys’ giant and colourful backyard at 132 Congress Road – as soon as the house of Capt. Isaac M. Boardman – will likely be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, as a part of the backyard membership’s seasonal celebration of space gardens Fridays by means of Aug. 26. Admission, which helps the membership’s many public service initiatives, is $5.
The Guerrys moved to Belfast in 2006. Their backyard right this moment boasts of outdated and new shrubs. “Lilac and rhododendron create cornerstones in pathways,” says Stephanie Guerry. “Hosta, lilies, hydrangea, peony, primrose, and roses greet you at each flip.”
In 2020, throughout the top of the pandemic, Ted, a semi-retired funeral director, and Stephanie, a nurse educator, redeveloped their meandering yard backyard into their very own non-public retreat. The Guerrys christened a small rock-rimmed pond “Raspberry Pond” for the scrumptious pink berries that encompass it in the summertime.
