The Westbrook-based athletic retailer Olympia Shops introduced this week that its remaining shops all through the East Coast shall be closing.
After closing eight Maine shops in 2019, together with its Bangor Mall location, shops in Auburn, Ellsworth, Falmouth, Presque Isle, Rockland, South Portland, Waterville and Windham remained open. The November 2019 closures got here after the retailer was acquired by nationwide athletic retailer JackRabbit in October 2019.
All 35 remaining shops will shut by the top of September, the Portland Press Herald reported.
Olympia Sports activities opened its first retailer in The Maine Mall in South Portland in 1975, finally opening greater than 200 areas up and down the East Coast.
Particulars on why the shops are being closed down weren’t made clear as of Friday afternoon.
